MCPS bus collides with house after being run off the road

At approximately 8:08 a.m. this morning, a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old female Ocala resident traveling southbound ran a stop sign at SW 31^st Avenue Road approaching Marion Oaks Trail, hitting a Marion County District Schools bus traveling westbound on Marion Oaks Trail approaching the SW 31^st Avenue Road intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP indicated in its media release that the bus traveled southwest following its impact with the pickup truck, colliding with a residence located at 12978 SW 31^st Avenue Road.

Marion County Fire Rescue transported the drivers of the pickup truck and bus from the accident with minor injuries.

According to an MCPS spokesperson, there were no children on the bus at the time of the collision.

FHP indicates that people were home at the time of the accident, but none of the occupants were injured.
